Milan Travel Information

Italy’s commercial capital and a world-renowned centre of art and fashion, Milan is a fantastic destination for a short break. Combining wonderful architecture and a rich cultural heritage with a bustling café scene, Milan is a delight to explore. At the heart of the city you’ll find the world’s largest Gothic cathedral, and La Scala – with Europe’s largest stage, a truly magnificent opera house. For those looking for a sophisticated weekend break, Milan is the perfect choice.

For art lovers, Milan is home to Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘Last Supper’, housed in the Santa Maria delle Grazie church. For fabulous Renaissance and Baroque paintings, head for the Pinacoteca di Brera museum, in the Brera district.

Milan is a shopper’s paradise, and no visit would be complete without, at the very least, a spot of window shopping. For designer boutiques, head for the via Monte Napoleone and via Della Spiga. Or for those on a tighter budget, head for the Corso Buenos Aires. Milan is full of wonderful restaurants and plenty of bars. At the weekend head for the Navigli and Brera districts for a lively night out.

If you have the time, head for Lake Como. A beautiful lake, just 30 minutes from Milan, and easily reached by train from the Central Station.
