Belfast is a lovely city break destination, combining a colourful history with rich traditions, seamlessly with modern shopping and visitor attractions. As a capital city, there is a certain buzz to Belfast, and a stay here will be full of interest and excitement, or you may choose to use Belfast as a gateway to the charms of largely rural Northern Ireland. If you prefer to stay in Belfast, and take day trips to the countryside, there are several famous landmarks within a couple of hours’ drive of Belfast, including the Giant’s Causeway, the mountain of Mourne, and countless pretty villages.

For those wishing to do a spot of shopping whilst on holiday, Belfast is an ideal destination, with plenty of shops. Especially popular are the Castlecourt and Connswater shopping centres, and there are any number of local craft and souvenir shops for those wanting to take home a memento of their stay here.

One attraction that is hard to miss is Belfast Castle. Perched above the city, Belfast Castle offers tremendous views across the greater Belfast area and Belfast Lough.

Belfast is a compact city, and is easily explored on foot, and offers a good selection of accommodation, to suit all budgets. For the evenings, there are sophisticated bars, traditional Irish music in pubs, fine cuisine in stylish restaurants and trendy clubs.
